Your Pelvic Floor After Birth, A Gentle Rebuild
Leaking when you sneeze is common. It is also treatable, at any point after birth.

What your pelvic floor did
It carried a growing baby for months and stretched profoundly at birth, whether you delivered vaginally or by caesarean. Recovery is muscular rehabilitation, and it responds to patience.
Signs worth taking seriously
- Leaking urine when you cough, laugh, or run
- A heaviness or dragging feeling low in the pelvis
- Pain with intimacy after you have been cleared
- Difficulty controlling wind or bowel urgency
Beginning again
Start with breath. On the inhale let the pelvic floor soften, on the exhale gently lift. Ten slow repetitions, twice a day. A pelvic health physiotherapist is worth every penny, and it is never too late to see one, even years later.
