Holistic care
Holistic Wellness
Natural, time-honored approaches for women's health , to use alongside (not instead of) the care of a trusted provider.
Educational only , not medical advice
The information here is for learning and reflection. It isn't a diagnosis, prescription, or substitute for personalized medical care. Please talk to a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, herb, or practice , especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, or managing a health condition.
Postpartum Recovery
The fourth trimester is for you, too
You grew a person. Recovery deserves the same intention as pregnancy , slow food, warmth, rest, and gentle hands. Cultures around the world honor 30–40 days of confinement for a reason.
Natural remedies & approaches
Herbal sitz baths
Warm water with herbs like calendula, witch hazel, lavender, and yarrow can soothe healing tissues. Cool 'padsicles' help in the first week.
Placenta encapsulation
Some choose to encapsulate the placenta for postpartum support. Evidence is mostly anecdotal; choose a trained, hygienic provider, and skip it if you had an infection or certain complications.
Nourishing foods
Warm, soft, easy-to-digest meals: bone broths, congee, stews, oats, ghee. Cold smoothies and raw salads can wait a few weeks.
Belly binding
Traditional in many cultures for support and comfort in the first weeks. Choose breathable wraps and skip if you had a c-section without your provider's okay.
Gentle movement
Walking, breathwork, pelvic tilts. Wait for clearance (usually 6 weeks) before anything more , and consider seeing a pelvic floor PT regardless of how birth went.
Emotional healing
Your hormones cliff-drop in the first weeks. Tears, intrusive thoughts, and big feelings are common. A postpartum-trained therapist is gold.
Community + help
Accept the meal trains. Let someone hold the baby while you shower. This is not a season for proving anything.
A gentle reminder
Postpartum depression and anxiety are real, common, and very treatable. If you're struggling , sleeping but not resting, dreading the day, scary thoughts, or just not feeling like yourself , please reach out. In the US: call or text 988, or the PSI helpline at 1-800-944-4773.
