Blood sugar first

Almost every hormone conversation begins here. Sharp rises and crashes in blood sugar raise cortisol, which affects ovulation, sleep, and mood. Steadying it is the highest leverage thing most women can do.

Four habits worth keeping

  • Protein at breakfast, within an hour or so of waking
  • Fibre at every meal, vegetables, beans, whole grains
  • Fat with carbohydrate so energy lasts longer
  • Eating enough, undereating is its own hormonal stress

Eat with your cycle, loosely

More iron and warmth during your period, lighter and fresher in the follicular phase, more magnesium and complex carbohydrate in the luteal phase. Treat this as an invitation, not a rulebook.

Plant this thought
